Cookies and preferences
Published 31 October 2026. This website uses cookies to remember your chosen language and appearance, not for advertising or visitor analytics.
Only the choices you request
The website stores these preferences to provide the language and appearance you select. They do not contain your name, email address, media library or an advertising identifier. We do not use localStorage as an alternative preference store.
butter-language
This cookie remembers your selected website language so that later visits can use the same language. Its maximum lifetime is one year from the last time your choice is saved.
butter-theme
This cookie remembers whether you selected light, dark or system appearance. Its maximum lifetime is one year from the last time your choice is saved.
Scope and protection
Both cookies are host-only, so they are not set for other NewTopic sites. Both are marked Secure, meaning they are sent over HTTPS, and SameSite=Lax, which limits when browsers send them with requests from other sites. They are used for requested preferences under Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG.
Change or remove a preference
Use the website’s language and appearance controls to change a saved choice. You can remove or block these cookies in your browser’s site-data settings. The pages remain accessible without saved preferences, but your choices may not be remembered on a later visit.
Connection data is separate
Hosting and Cloudflare delivery also involve processing technical requests. That processing is described in the Privacy policy and the providers’ policies; it is not an advertising or analytics cookie system. For questions, contact contact@newtopic.com.
If Cloudflare requires a security check, it may set cf_clearance to remember a successful check and cf_chl_rc_* for challenge diagnostics. These protect access, not advertising or visitor analytics. Their use and lifetime depend on the check. Necessary storage relies on Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG; related processing relies on our legitimate security interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, as described in the Privacy policy.
